Job Title: Spanish Translator/Media Relations Assistant
Reports To: VP of Media Relations
FLSA: Salary, Exempt
Job Purpose: The Cincinnati Reds are seeking a Spanish Translator/Media Relations Assistant. This individual will act as the primary Spanish language translator for the Major League team and will also provide administrative support to the front office.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Travel with the Major League club during spring training, regular season, and postseason. However, additional travel in the offseason may be required.
• Translate in Spanish and English for all scheduled pre-game and post-game media interviews.
• Attend any club-related events (e.g. Redsfest, Reds Caravan, Reds Youth Academy and Reds Hall of Fame and Museum events) throughout the calendar year to be covered by local or national media at which Major League players are present.
• Assist players with questions regarding the logistics of their employment as a Major League Baseball player (including transportation, lodging, visas, etc. but excluding contract interpretation questions).
• Work as part of the Reds social media team to take photos and video for exclusive use on the official team accounts.
• Assist in creating social media content with the team's Spanish speaking players for the @Reds and @Rojos accounts.
• Assist with Major League player family communication.
• Provide administrative support to front office as needed throughout calendar year.
Experience, Education and Licensure:
• Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Experience in college or professional baseball preferred.
Requirements:
• Spoken and written fluency in Spanish and English.
• Must be with the team during spring training workouts and games, regular season home and road games, and during the postseason as well as other media events.
• Must be able to travel within the United States and internationally.
Work Environment:
• Work is performed in an interior locker room/clubhouse environment, as well as outdoors where the employee will be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.
• Hours will include nights, weekends and holidays.
