Job Title: Senior Director of Health and Performance

Job Purpose:
• This individual will assist the Cincinnati Reds organization get the most out of its players by:
• Maximizing the performance of healthy players.
• Reducing the number and severity of injuries incurred by players.
• Shortening ''return to play'' times for injured players going through rehab.
• Oversee the organization's efforts to develop a holistic approach to a player's wellness and peak performance.
• Achieve these goals by directly managing each of these departments and ensuring their close collaboration with each other:
• Major League Athletic Training
• Major League Strength & Conditioning
• Minor League Athletic Training
• Minor League Strength & Conditioning
• Physical Therapy and Rehab
• Sports Science
• Nutrition and Dietetics
• Sports Psychology and Mental Skills
• Minor League Wellness
• Ensure that each of these departments stays on the cutting edge of technological developments and is providing best in class treatment to our players.
• Provide full-time decision-making responsibility with subject matter expertise to these departments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Reinforce the organizational initiatives in each of the aforementioned sub-departments in terms of strategy, day-to-day operations, organizational culture, employee expectations and performance reviews.
• Researching new initiatives and collaborating with the heads of the sub-departments to ensure we remain on the cutting edge of new developments.
• Collaborate with the Major League staff to make better decisions regarding individual and overall team workload and physical development, including individualized Health & Performance development plans. Oversee the development of individualized plans for minor league players as well.
• Collaborate with all sub-departments to collect and analyze medical, performance and biometric data in order to provide organization with informed health and development decisions for each player.
• Act as single point of contact between Front Office and the sub-departments for matters such as decisions regarding surgeries and second opinions, rehab and return to play timelines, transactional medical reviews and draft/international scouting physicals and medical reviews.
• Act as primary point of contact for Medical Director and all associated physicians and specialists, including annual contracting, consulting duties and player health logistics.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Independent judgment and ability to multitask is required to plan, prioritize, and organize diversified workload.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to work long, flexible hours including weekends and holidays.
• High level of interpersonal skills and be able to effectively communicate with wide range of departments, seniority levels and personalities.
• Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software (Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
