Public Safety Officer- Part-Time
Department: Ballpark Operations
Location: Cincinnati, Ohio
Reports To: Public Safety Manager
Employees are expected to follow all Cincinnati Reds policies and procedures, serve as positive role models, and manage their workload effectively. This includes demonstrating flexibility, prioritizing tasks efficiently, and meeting departmental productivity standards.
Minimum Requirements:
Education: High school graduation or equivalent.
Experience: Previous security experience preferred but will train qualified candidate.
Skills:
• Computer knowledgeable, or the ability to become knowledgeable to operate software that relates to report writing, log entry, surveillance equipment, and monitoring alarms.
• Willingness and ability to become and remain certified in CPR/First Aid/AED, Fire Extinguisher use, Trained Crowd Manager, Special Events (IS15) NIMS (IS700), Workplace Security (IS906), Active Shooter (IS907), Surveillance Awareness (IS914), de-escalation tactics, along with other require trainings and put the taught methods into use.
Preferred Requirement
Education:
• College education
• Certification/Licensure in emergency medical services (CPR, AED, First Aid, Medic, Paramedic)
Experience: 5 years of law enforcement or corporate security experience.
Skills:
• Computer
• Strong administrative skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
• Excellent written communication skills with attention to clarity, professionalism, and detail.
Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Duty | % of Time
• Professionally assist and screen visitors, employees, vendors, contractors, and partners in an efficient manner for admittance to the ballpark. This includes staffing metal detection devices and inspection of bags and vehicles: 25%
• Monitor the security and fire detection systems for Great American Ball Park and other Ballclub facilities: 25%
• Conduct patrols of Great American Ballpark and other Cincinnati facilities on foot and/or in a vehicle; checking for unsafe conditions, hazards, security issues, mechanical problems, and unauthorized persons: 20%
• Respond to and take the appropriate action during incidents that include illegal/suspicious activity, fire, medical needs, natural disasters (i.e. flooding), mechanical equipment issues, hazardous materials spills, inclement weather, and other incidents or conditions that may arise following established procedures: 20%
• Carry out all tasks and responsibilities within the rules, regulations, and policies of Major League Baseball, the Cincinnati Reds, and the Public Safety Department: 10%
Reporting Structure:
This role reports directly to Public Safety Manager.
Physical Requirements:
• Occasionally required to sit or stand for periods of time
• Use hands, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear
• Light lifting/carrying to assist with event preparation
• May be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time
• Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
• Must be willing to conduct business during non-traditional hours, utilizing games and events (including evenings and weekends) to interact with clients and prospects
