This is a Part Time Unpaid Internship
Job Title: Rehab Coach Intern / Bullpen Catcher
Department: Health & Performance / Player Development
Reports To: Director, Rehab & Physical Therapy
FLSA: Part Time, Hourly
Job Purpose: This individual will be available to play catch, long toss, and catch bullpens when the Goodyear Complex rehab group is operating. The person in this position may also be required to throw batting practice, assist with drills throughout the year and support the rehab staff, PD coaching staff and players with other duties as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Be available to play catch, long toss and catch bullpens for rehab players.
• Throw batting practice on the field or in the cage.
• Assist with on-field drills.
• Assist with setting up fields, balls and equipment for on field rehab activities.
• General support of staff and players while on the field.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Willingness to work long, flexible hours including mornings, afternoons, nights weekends and holidays.
• Basic knowledge of the sport of professional baseball.
• Must be able to work in a demanding and fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to work with a diverse group of people possessing different backgrounds, personalities, levels of education and native languages.
• Excellent work ethic and outstanding attention to detail.
Experience, Education and Licensure:
• Experience playing college and/or professional baseball preferred.
• Experience catching elite pitching, velocity and movement.
• English and Spanish language proficiency preferred.
Requirements:
• Must be available to work as needed from January – November in Goodyear, AZ.
• Must be able to catch elite professional pitching on a daily basis.
• Must be able to throw and/or long toss on a daily basis.
• Work is performed in a locker room/clubhouse/training room, on the field and outdoors where the employee will be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.
