Department: Baseball Operations
Job Title: Baseball Operations Analyst
Reports To: Coordinator of Baseball Operations
Job Purpose: Provide qualitative and quantitative analysis in support of strategic decision making efforts for the various departments within Baseball Operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Major League Front Office responsibilities:
• Develop and integrate new tools and technology to improve Baseball Operations decision making processes.
• Provide general administrative, logistical, communications, and organizational support for Major League Front Office staff.
• Provide project and statistical request support to Major League Front Office staff.
• Assist with general hiring efforts such as reviewing resumes, interviewing candidates, and overseeing intern projects.
• Oversee day-to-day outreach to local colleges and universities in effort to recruit more diverse, qualified future executives.
• Major League Team responsibilities:
• Provide project and statistical request support to Advance Scouting group and Major League coaching staff.
• Serve as a contact for MLB/MLBPA-mandated drug testing program.
• Amateur Scouting responsibilities:
• General administrative, logistical, and organizational support for the Rule 4 Draft.
• Professional Scouting responsibilities:
• Provide comprehensive scouting coverage as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a quantitative field, such as statistics, mathematics, engineering, and/or economics required.
• Strong independent judgment, work ethic, and attention to detail.
• Demonstrated experience and proficiency with:
• Database querying (e.g. SQL) and statistical software (e.g. R, Python) preferred.
• BATS video system preferred.
• Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, Word) required.
• Understanding of typical baseball data structures and knowledge of current baseball research, statistics and strategy.
• High level of interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate with wide range of departments, seniority levels and personalities.
• Willing and able to travel within the United States, including but not limited to Spring Training.
• Willing to work long, flexible hours including weekends and holidays.
• Willing to relocate if necessary to meet needs of the organization.

• Performs duties as workload necessitates.
• Demonstrate flexible and efficient time management and ability to prioritize workload.
