Job Title: Affiliate Performance Coach
Department: Baseball Operations – Player Development
Reports To: Senior Director, Player Development
Job Purpose: Provide assistance to the field staff, player development and health and performance staffs at the Cincinnati Reds Minor League affiliates in a multitude of areas.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Scheduling and execution of data collection for Health & Performance, Sports Science and other baseball initiatives
• Collaboration with Player Development to prepare and distribute player and staff reports including:
• Facilitation of meetings with staff and players to discuss player progress on an ongoing basis
• Support and integration of player plans during the season
• Preparation of reports for Director of Applied Sports Science, Minor League Sports Science Coordinator, Player Development leadership and front office staff.
• Assistance in the execution of organization-wide research studies or programs at the affiliate level
• Assistance with player travel and management of housing at the minor league affiliates.
• Based on skill set, responsibilities could also include:
• Performance of administrative duties for club including player travel, housing, per diem, HR, MLB and baseball operations paperwork, and other team expenses
• Assistance with staff game coverage on an as needed basis to complete maintenance routines (including range of motion and recovery exercises) during game times
• Assistance with strength coach-led warmups and conditioning sessions
• Assistance with on-field pre-game work, including:
• On-field pre-game support for coaching staff (cages, BP, machines, etc.)
• Technology and other field setup
• Fungos, taking throws and shagging
• Assistance with video and/or pitch tracking personnel on an as-needed basis, including game
• Assistance with physician appointment transportation, training room and travel preparation
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Independent judgment and ability to multitask is required to plan, prioritize, and organize diversified workload.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to work long, flexible hours including weekends and holidays.
• Must be trustworthy and comfortable with managing sensitive information.
• High level of interpersonal skills and be able to effectively communicate with wide range of departments, seniority levels and personalities.
• Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications and communication platforms in word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, EMR and Slack).
Experience, Education and Licensure
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Experience in professional or college sports, preferred.
Requirements:
• Spoken and written fluency in English.
• Spanish-speaking preferred.
• Ability to travel within the United States and the Dominican Republic.
• Willing to relocate. Location of employment is assigned by the club annually, to one of our affiliation cities around the United States and may be out of the country at our development complex currently located in the Dominican Republic.
