Chicago White Sox Charities – ACE PROGRAM
Part-Time Strength & Conditioning Coach
About the Program:
ACE is a high-caliber travel baseball program for athletes 12-17 years old that is year-round. In 2007, recognizing the lack of opportunities for young people in under-served communities to get involved in organized baseball, the White Sox established the ACE program with three main objectives:
o Gain exposure for young ballplayers in Chicago's under-served communities among college recruiters and scouts.
o Reverse the declining interest and participation in baseball among African American youths.
o Create a program that prepares each participant to succeed in life beyond the diamond.
Responsibilities:
• Manage all aspects of the Chicago White Sox ACE Strength and Conditioning program for athletes between the ages of 12-17
• Model and implement off-season and in-season workouts (speed training, weightlifting, agility, etc.)
• Monitor, evaluate and assess athlete progressions and program instruction throughout the season/year
• Lead teams in stretching
• Maintain the weight room
• Weekly and bimonthly reports
• Supervise all workouts at all times
Hours will differ based on the time of year as well as the Strength and Conditioning Coach's preferred programming and training schedules. The following is a general estimation of the time commitment required:
• Off-Season (November through March)
• Up to 18 hours/week (speed training, weightlifting, agility, etc.)
• Spring/Summer In-Season (April through July)
• Up to 5 hours/week
• Fall Programming/Development Class (Late August to October)
• Up to 8 hours/week
