HOW YOU'LL CONTRIBUTE:
The Chicago Cubs are seeking an experienced Social Media Manager to help lead and evolve the organization's social media practice. This role is responsible for developing and executing platform strategies across all owned social channels, overseeing day-to-day content execution, and driving audience growth and brand relevance through social-first storytelling. The Social Media Manager will work cross-functionally to support key initiatives, live events, and marquee moments while ensuring the Cubs' voice remains consistent, engaging, and culturally relevant.
THE DAY-TO-DAY:
• Manage the day-to-day content calendar, publishing, and performance of Cubs social media channels (Meta, Instagram, TikTok, X, YouTube)
• Collaborate with the Assistant Director to continually evolve the Cubs' social media playbook sharpening our voice, experimenting with formats, and crafting platform-first strategies that surprise and delight fans
• Be the go-to connector between the social team and other departments (Communications, Partnerships, Ticketing etc.) to bring big ideas to life with perfect timing and execution
• Lead dynamic social coverage for home games, marquee moments, and key initiatives bringing the energy of Wrigley Field and Cubs culture straight to our fans' feeds (including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed)
• Concept, script, and publish scroll-stopping, social-first content that sparks conversation, drives engagement, and captures the spirit of the Cubs brand
• Partner with the Cubs Production Team to ideate around eye-catching videos, graphics, and photography that stand out in a crowded feed
• Keep your finger on the pulse of real-time trends, adapting content to stay fresh, authentic, and at the center of the cultural conversation
• Spot creative crossover opportunities that blend baseball moments with trending internet culture, music, memes, and fan communities
• Collaborate on influencer campaigns, ensuring deliverables feel organic and on-brand
• Use performance data and post-campaign recaps to refine our content mix and find new ways to surprise our audience.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
• 5 to 7 years of experience managing brand social media accounts, preferred in professional or D1 collegiate sports
• Proven success in growing audiences, building voice, and delivering platform-specific content that drives results
• Strong creative instincts and ability to think like a producer, from scripting to identifying viral moments
• Deep expertise in platform-first content strategy understanding audience behavior, algorithms, and creative best practices unique to each social channel
• Experience managing live event coverage and creating content on tight deadlines
• Fluent in internet culture with an instinct for how to adapt trends, memes, and cultural moments into sports storytelling in a timely and authentic way
• Exceptional copywriting skills, especially in developing a brand voice that is witty, approachable, and contextually aware
• Confident managing projects, content coverage, and coordination across teams to ensure timely and high-quality execution
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays to support the full baseball season
• This position is based in Chicago and not eligible for remote work
WHAT SETS YOU APART:

• Deep understanding of baseball, its culture, and its fan base, with the ability to make the game relevant to new and diverse audiences
• Experience using tools such as Sprout Social, Tagger, Slate, Canva, and Adobe Creative Suite.
