ROLE
The Director, Security Operations will design, establish and implement the strategy of the daily operating functions of the Security department. The position will lead change within the campus security, event security and dispatch functions of the Operations department while executing day-to-day operations collaboratively and inclusively. Leading a team of managers, supervisors and front-line employees, the Director, Security Operations will deliver ''best-in-class'' service to all guests and/or clients of the Wrigley Field campus by designing and implementing policies, procedures, security measures, and performance management for these security functions. This position will collaborate with Operations leadership and their teams on security matters related to events and operations across the Wrigley Field campus. The Director, Security Operations will also be responsible for working collaboratively with external groups such as Major League Baseball, federal, state, local law enforcement and emergency services as well as internally with all internal stakeholders across the Chicago Cubs' organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Oversee a team of full-time and part-time security associates who provide 24-hour security oversight of the Wrigley Field campus
• Lead guest-facing Security Services (more than 200 seasonal personnel) for all major ticketed events on the Wrigley Field campus including event dispatch, guest screening, incident response and adherence to Wrigley Field policies
• Oversee the operation of the Joint Operations Center during major Wrigley Field events, inclusive of incident management structure and security technology systems
• Participate in the Manager on Duty (MOD) program for major ticketed events on the Wrigley Field campus; rotate with the Operations senior leadership team as the designated incident commander for such events
• Routinely evaluate current policies and practices and recommend and effectively implement changes that advance guest safety and security and the guest experience
• With the support of human resources, drive process enhancements in the selection, training, rewards and recognition, and performance management for security
• Provide critical leadership in the development, training and implementation of emergency response plans and crisis management
• Responsible for the coordination and optimization of current state security technology
• Build an intelligence-led security model that routinely assesses and evaluates the internal and external threat environment, and subsequently develops mitigation plans in response to those threats
• Ensure prompt investigation and reporting of security-related incidents; analyze incident data and trends and augment security posture as necessary
• Build coalitions and partnerships with external partners, on-premises operators and third-parties who provide security support and resources to the Wrigley Field campus
• Ensure effective coordination with law enforcement and other emergency resources
• Implement policies, procedures, standards, training, and methods for the protection of associates, players, operations and facilities
• Organize and partner with external agencies regarding ongoing efforts to protect the campus surrounding Wrigley Field from both pedestrian and vehicle-borne threats
• Responsible for budgeting, forecasting and managing labor and operating expense plans, proposing and implementing Capital projects and negotiating with and overseeing the operation of contracted third-party security providers
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• 4-year degree from an accredited university or college in Business Administration/Management, Criminal Justice or related field of study
• Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive security management experience securing and protecting high-value assets and soft targets
• Proven capability of managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
• Openness to creativity, innovation and change
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively, including demonstrated experience integrating security objectives with the broader commercial and operational goals of an organization
• Experience in working with various security technology hardware and software (video management, incident management, CCTV cameras)
• Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications
• Experience with large scale security technology solutions
• Demonstrated ability to effectively manage change within teams and across different functional areas
• Proven experience in developing and delivering presentations to senior executives
• Available to work non-traditional hours to include evenings, weekends and holidays
• Strong written and verbal communication and organization skills
• Passion and commitment to delivering a high level of service and timely responses to internal clients, external vendors and partners
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Advanced degree in security, business or related field of study
• Current Certified Protection Professional (CPP) certification
• Experience working in an organized labor environment
• Prior law enforcement or military experience and leadership
• Current or prior experience managing third-party security providers
