Senior Producer

CBS New York, the #1 station in the portfolio of Paramount-owned television stations, is looking for a thoughtful journalist who is ready to take their leadership skills to the next level in the role of Senior Producer. CBS News New York is looking for a phenomenal, collaborative, and driven Senior Producer to develop and oversee an innovative morning newscast for broadcast and streaming. The successful candidate will be a proven leader who knows how to motivate a diverse team while maintaining the highest ethics in news gathering and production.

Core Responsibilities:
• Manage development and execution of daily newscasts in collaboration with producers, assignment editors, anchors and reporting teams in the field
• Ensure each newscast is urgent, compelling and adheres to the high journalistic standards of CBS New York
• Offer constructive feedback to team members to assist in their development
• Collaborate with the entire team to constantly evolve the shows to maintain audience engagement
• Review and approve each script within the newscast to ensure accuracy and fairness
• Must work across the newsroom to leverage all resources for the betterment of every content on all platforms
• Collaboration is key to newsroom success. This candidate must be capable of working closely with others
• Strong communication and organizational skills are required
• Must be passionate about community and elevating issues that are important to our broad audience

Preferred skills:
• Experience handling breaking news in a control-room environment
• Booking and producing of segments for newscasts and/or streaming
• Competency with news and streaming production systems like INews and Crispin
• Video editing

Qualifications:

• Five years of experience as a newscast producer in a large market
• Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field
• Previous management experience is preferred
• Must be willing to work weekends and overnights
• Previous knowledge of the NY DMA is preferred
