Job Description

The digital programming desk at CBS Sports Digital is responsible for stories, video and data at CBS Sports, for both the website and mobile app. This position will handle those responsibilities during night shifts, including sending push notifications, strategizing video placements, promoting games and making news decisions.

Role Details:

• Identify and process well-crafted alerts for breaking news stories, videos, and live event coverage for both mobile and desktop platforms

• Program site and app with story and video content, based on news and business priorities and using analytics including Chartbeat

• Savvy management of the moving parts in a fast-paced environment

• Some copy editing, headline/cutline writing, photo editing for website

Daily assignments may also include:

• Selecting stories for covers and headlines, photos to cover top stories and video

• Writing and re-rewriting headlines based on metrics and live event happenings

• Use content to promote live events on CBS, Paramount , Golazo Network, and CBS Sports Network

• Selecting headlines for News Ticker on CBS Sports HQ and Golazo Network.

• Selecting video for inclusion in our viral video playlist for mobile consumption.

Qualifications

• 5 years of online/newspaper editorial experience in sports

• Ability to articulate and execute sound news judgment.

• An emphatic nature to pursue news and strive for accuracy and timeliness.

• Exemplary judgment and decision-making skills; ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

• Trustworthiness, commitment and consideration for co-workers and new ideas.

• Sports betting knowledge and initiative to discover new ways to inform users

• Some experience cutting and/or curating videos

Preferred Qualifications

• Supervisor experience leading a small team of writers

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Hiring Salary Range: $67,000.00 - 84,000.00.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
