Newscast Producer

KTVT-TV, the Dallas-Fort Worth CBS Owned and Operated station, is in search of a temporary newscast producer. The ideal candidate will have strong writing skills, excellent news judgment and proven advanced storytelling abilities.

Responsibilities include identifying and creating content as well as working closely with reporters on story development. Must craft a newscast that includes more than just story placement! The Freelance Producer will focus on thoughtful transitions and breakout opportunities; strong tease writing; creative use of graphics; and advanced production techniques. Must be solid in the booth with effective communication skills, the ability to make quick decisions and manage breaking news.
• Minimum two years proven experience as a line producer in a medium or large market preferred.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills required.
• Must be results-oriented, innovative, demonstrate teamwork and be willing to work weekends.
• Bachelor’s or technical degree in Broadcast Journalism or related field preferred.

This role will be scheduled for up to 24 hours per week to work both weekend and morning shifts.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
