CBS Sports Digital's multi-platform offerings include CBSSports.com and the CBS Sports apps for mobile and connected TV devices; the 24/7 streaming sports news network CBS Sports HQ; 247Sports; MaxPreps; CBS Sports fantasy games; and SportsLine.
Overview
We are seeking a Marketing Coordinator to assist in the development, organization, and management of general marketing initiatives. This will include, but is not limited to consumer, grassroots, and event marketing projects as assigned by the Marketing team. They will also assist with our internal in-house creative / marketing team.
Responsibilities
General Marketing / Project Management Support
• Assist in production of advertising media, marketing materials, Sales, or other promotional materials. Ensure that messages are supportive of marketing strategies
• Create all promotional marketing plan PPT presentations as well as overall marketing campaign recap PPTs for cable partners/properties. Work with Programming, Promos, and Media teams to track promotion to ensure we are meeting contractual obligations
• Assist in creation of, and maintain inventory of, promotional merchandise and materials including but not limited to quality control, and brand management
• Collaborate with internal divisions within CBS Sports, external divisions of CBS, other leagues and properties, as well as marketing vendors
• Coordinate web content updates
• Conceptualize new innovative ways to grow the brand and increase tune-in
• Support the in-house marketing and design team by coordinating and collecting content, sourcing images, and checking copy
• Keep Marketing and Creative Services department up to date on any Programming and PR updates
• Assist team with day-to-day marketing tasks and coordinating marketing projects and activities as requested
• Maintain files and information for key vendors such as contacts, quotes, RFPs, etc.
Consumer / Grassroots / Event Marketing
• Support the planning and execution of social/grassroots/consumer and affiliate marketing programs that result in increased viewership and overall engagement with the brand, and provide project and administrative support for such programs
• Handle logistics and pre-production of event as necessary to ensure seamless event
• Provide on the ground presence and support during marketing events (some travel required)
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree
• Minimum 2 years of marketing experience
Additional Qualifications
• Passion for marketing, sports, and television! Experience in sports or media industry a plus.
• Solid understanding of major pro and college sports, with understanding of latest news. Familiarity with sports covered by CBS Sports Network is a plus!
• Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to multi-task
• Confident and outgoing personality, well organized, and self-motivated
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and adhere to tight deadline
• Fluent in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word). Knowledge of Google suite (Slides, Docs, Sheets) is a plus
• Understanding of traditional and emerging marketing channels
• Ability to think creatively and innovatively
• Interpersonal communication skills are key, with strong writing skills and attention to detail
• Work well in team environment
• Given that this is a niche audience, marketing tactics, other than traditional, may have to be applied
• Should be current with college trends, fashion and entertainment
• Have a good audience sensibility
• Comfortable with modest-to-no budget and non-traditional marketing.
• Have understanding of digital marketing and grassroots strategies
