CBS Television Stations consists of 28 CBS-owned stations in 17 major U.S. markets, as well as the stations' digital properties. The portfolio of stations includes 15 that are part of the CBS Television Network, eight affiliates of The CW Network, three independent stations and two MyNetworkTV affiliates.
The station group's properties also include CBSN Local, a joint initiative with CBS Interactive that features direct-to-consumer streaming news services in the markets where the Company has local news organizations. CBS Television Stations' premium local content is also distributed to consumers by the group's websites and mobile applications.
Compensation and Benefits include: Base Salary ($45,000 - $55,000/year) and eligibility for Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k) Plan, Life Insurance Coverage, Disability Benefits, Tuition Assistance Program, PTO.
DESCRIPTION: Per NABET Agreement: The duties of a Staff Newsperson may include, but are not limited to: 1) Researching, gathering, preparing, writing, editing and rewriting materials for use on news, special events, sports, public affairs, and documentary programs; 2) Reports, announcements, discussions or analysis of news or other events of public interest which may be incorporated in programs enumerated in 1) above; 3) Operation of video or still cameras and editing audio and video material; 4) Any other duties consistent with employment as a Staff Newsperson. Responsible for writing copy for newscasts, including vo, vo/spots and packages. May be responsible for breaking news coverage. Participate in morning meeting, work with assignment manager to develop stories, and perform other duties as assigned by News Director. Must be a master of storytelling and the written word. Understand top story treatment, elementing of stories, ''news now'' production style, effective teasing, aggressive use of live elements, and innovation of presentation are helpful.
Minimum Experience & Qualifications
Thorough working knowledge of AVID News Cutter, knowledge of how to ingest and import video, advanced editing skills with full understanding of composition, sequencing, shot selection, effects editing, graphics, multi-layer editing and audio blending, working knowledge of file-based workflow; able to contribute stories to and download stories from Newspath and CNN; able to assume responsibility for coordinating the edit staff to specific show needs to ensure the success of a newscast.
The candidate should be punctual, organized, be detail oriented, possess good interpersonal communication skills, have a team mentality, be self-motivated, and able to make quick decisions and meet deadlines.
This position requires a flexible work schedule.
Desired Experience & Qualifications
Experience using iNews and AVID Editing software.
