Overview / role details:
KCAL News on KCBS/KCAL/CBS News LA is looking for an outstanding and engaging Meteorologist/ Weather Anchor for our multi-platform weather team! Top candidates must have superior forecasting and storytelling skills. Ability to produce easy to understand and informative visuals, maps, and graphics to communicate the weather story to customers every day on air, online and on social media platforms. Must have a wealth of experience covering live severe weather breaking news. Also, live experience participating in and reporting on community-related events. Strong knowledge of WSI weather system required. Behind the scenes, it is essential that this position work closely with news management, newscast producers and the digital team to execute station weather strategy.
Required:
• At least 5 Years on air experience weather casting and weather producing
• Maintain a steadfast commitment to forecasting accuracy
• Proficient in weather graphics production
• Ability to live field report and write packages
• Ability to drive and operate our Mobile Weather Lab vehicle
• Experience with severe weather coverage, including but not limited to earthquakes, wildfires, flooding, mudslides, and severe thunderstorms
Preferred skills/experience:
• AMS or NWA Seal
• Ability to shoot and edit video
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Hiring Salary Range: $125,000.00 - 225,000.00.
The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
