Full Time Paid Internship
The Sales/Research Intern will have the opportunity to experience how a major television station operates. Candidate will take part in day to day activities to include general research, clerical, and project-based work, with a focus in the areas of Sales and Research. This is a great internship for dependable, enthusiastic, and motivated students with career interests in the television industry and a desire to learn Broadcast Sales & Research methodologies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Assist Sales Management and/or Account Executives in coordinating, preparing, and finalizing materials necessary for sales presentations to clients and media departments of advertising agencies.
• Work with Research Director to learn how Nielsen and other ratings systems work in order to provide tracking data to the Sales Team.
• Research new market opportunities using internal systems.
• Assist in prospecting for sales leads in specific categories of business.
• Assist in researching marketing and media contacts for sales prospects.
• Assist in researching corporate or brand DNA of current sales clients or prospects in order to build a profile.
• Create one-sheets, re-capping Research success.
• Create and modify documents using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as other internal software systems used in the Sales Dept.
• Work closely with departments that have day-to-day interaction with the Sales Department (Marketing, Creative Services, Digital, Commercial Production, etc.).
• Perform general clerical duties to include but not limited to: handling phone calls, filing, photocopying, presentations, faxing, mailing, and other administrative duties for Sales Managers and Account Executives.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM ABILITY, SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
• Highly proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, World Wide Web, and other related internet applications.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
• Must have strong written communication skills.
• Must have strong organizational skills and pay close attention to detail.
• Requires good verbal communication with strong problem-solving skills.
• Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to learn, operate and use internal systems and other programs (KANTAR, WRAP, NIELSEN and Scarborough) for research purposes.
• Must be enrolled in a full-time accredited college or university during the time of internship.
• Must receive course credit, and/or provide a letter of acknowledgement from direct advisor statin that this internship will directly benefit candidate's degree.
• Must be able to commit to a minimum 20 hours per week during normal business hours.
• This is a paid internship and is designed to last the entire school year (Sept. – May in conjunction with the student's schedule).
