Description:
CBS Sports is looking for a passionate and detail-oriented sports fan to join the research team as an Associate Researcher. This role involves creating in-depth statistical and analytical information for broadcasts and productions, supporting storytelling for various sports including NFL, college football, basketball, golf, and soccer.
Responsibilities:
• Use in-depth sports knowledge and research techniques to generate ideas and provide statistical context for live sporting events and news.
• Contribute to the creation of research packets, including data on matchups, storylines, and player profiles.
• Conduct searches using statistical tools, school/team websites, social media, and other resources to support game and studio productions.
• Collaborate with producers, on-air talent, and video teams to ensure comprehensive and creative coverage.
• Maintain files of sports records, trends, and scheduled events, and provide real-time reactions to live game performances.
• Present complex information in an easy-to-digest format for use in on-screen graphics.
• Support senior researchers with organizational tasks and assist other CBS Sports departments with fact-checking and research.
Qualifications:
• Experience Required: Experience in sports studio/broadcast environments or sports media.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field (Preferred) or equivalent experience.
• Strong knowledge and passion for sports, especially NFL, college football, basketball, golf, and soccer.
• Ability to conduct thorough research with minimal supervision.
• Excellent communication skills, multitasking abilities, and attention to detail.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with tight deadlines.
• Proficiency with internet searches, social media tools, and electronic newsgathering techniques.
Salary:
