CBS News and Stations is looking for an expert journalist to be part of a standards and practices team leading all aspects of content across all platforms with our local stations!
The Sr Director will be responsible for approving content across multiple shows and platforms daily. This includes, but is not limited to reading scripts, screening pieces, including long form content, online segments, social media posts, podcasts and being available to consult with producers in both pre and post production.
They will also be involved in approving some advertising language, as well as maintaining social media guidelines across the stations. The ideal candidate will play a vital role by contributing to and updating the evolving standards and guidelines handbook for the company. They will also issue daily direction for ongoing news stories as well as ahead of special events for local stations.
Required skills:
• 10 years experience as a journalist, local preferred, including proven writing skills
• Deep understanding of the ethics and values of high-quality journalism as well as the nuances of decision making in relation to the ethics of covering news stories
• Understanding of and familiarity with the process of complex investigative segments
• Experience of or familiarity with different platform needs, styles, formats etc.
• Ability to handle quick deadlines
• Familiarity with legal standards applicable to journalism
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work with a small team, and also a self-starter and to be adaptable
We are filling two positions, and remote work may be considered.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Hiring Salary Range: $180,000.00 - 210,000.00. The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
