CBS News and Stations is looking for an expert Meteorologist to take on the new position of Senior Coordinating Producer-Meteorologist for CBS News, Stations, CMV. The ideal candidate will have experience as a local on-air meteorologist, a passion for weather and a strong ability to coordinate logistics across multiple organizations.
This person will work closely with VP Weather Strategy to drive partnership between stations by promoting real-time content sharing optimize our existing and emerging weather technology investments.
This person will work closely with teams across the organization to craft innovative weather graphics for use at all stations to better emphasize local neighborhoods and community events particularly in hot zips and other areas identified as being geographically meaningful to the station.
Key Responsibilities:
• Help manage our multi-million-dollar weather technology portfolio.
• Partner with company technology leaders to further plan our evolution toward entirely cloud-based weather technology.
• Offer regular internal user training for technology investments.
• Implement a plan for all local weather teams to have the ability to cover breaking weather unassisted on their stream.
• Manage preparation and utilization of Max Cloud at all stations to ensure emergency or planned backup readiness at any other station.
• Ensure content redundancy and disaster recovery workflows are accurately established across the group.
• Ensure all weather professionals in the group have remote access to existing and emerging weather technology investments.
• Research the feasibility of “on call†time periods when a weather professional always has personal access to technology to ensure groundbreaking weather coverage at any time.
• Fill-in meteorologist for the group, as needed.
Qualifications:
• Must be a certified AMS and NWS meteorologist with at least 8-10 years’ experience doing daily weather forecasting, severe weather coverage.
• Skilled in creating innovative, advanced weather graphics.
• Ability to tell a comprehensive and clear weather story.
• Ability to shoot, write, and edit reports preferred.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in meteorology, science, broadcast journalism, communications, environmental studies or a related field.
This will be a union represented position.
