WCBS-TV, the #1 station in the ViacomCBS portfolio of local stations, is looking for an aggressive, standout newscast producer whose ambitions reach beyond the control room. This producer must be driven, collaborative and have impeccable news judgment and ethics.
Responsibilities
include creating a visually compelling, balanced newscast that is well-paced. The successful candidate will have a proven track record as a newsroom leader.
Core Responsibilities:
• Craft and mange an engaging newscast that feels comprehensive while simultaneously creating moments for news anchors to show command of the information.
• Write conversational, balanced copy that provides the appropriate depth and context
• React quickly to breaking news and weather
• Actively participate in editorial meetings and pitch stories regularly
• Stay organized while managing time, people and other resources
• Foster teamwork and collaboration through strong communication skills
• Work well under strict deadlines
• Exhibit confidence in the control room
• Incorporate digital elements into newscasts in a substantial way
Basic Qualifications:
• Minimum of 5 years of experience producing newscasts in a medium to large market
• Degree in journalism or related field preferred
• Must exhibit deep understanding of journalistic principals and ethics
• Must be a team player who brings a positive attitude
• Must possess a proven ability to deadlines and work under pressure
• Desktop editing experience preferred
• Must be willing to work varied hours, including overnights and weekends.
