Multi-Skilled Journalist (Temp/Freelance)
Description: CBS Sacramento is seeking a temporary/freelance Multi-Skilled Journalist. Candidate will have a proven and demonstrated ability to comfortably, confidently & conversationally communicate with interviewees and viewers. The ideal candidate will create entertaining and enterprising content that meets CBS programming strategies. MMJ needs to embrace their Social Media side; Tweeting, Facebooking, Snapchatting and Instagramming in between live segments is critical.
Candidate must be able to report scripted and unscripted news and features in both live and pre-recorded formats. Guiding viewers smoothly through breaking news situations and quirky feature stories with words and pictures is crucial. Experience as multimedia journalist required.
Qualifications:
Prior on-air reporting experience required. Strong writing skills and understanding of television news and entertainment reporting techniques are essential, iNews experience is required. Multimedia Journalist experience required. Prior experience in-live reporting with both live trucks and backpack streaming video preferred. College degree or equivalent work experience preferred. and operated duopoly in West Sacramento has an immediate opening for a news editor to work for CBS 13 and our independent 31. Candidates should have a strong background in putting compelling stories together for our viewers. More than three years television news experience required. (Please do not apply if you do not have a background in television news).
Candidates should have a working knowledge of NLE platforms (GRASS VALLEY EDIUS is a plus). Candidates should be flexible enough to work morning's, nights and weekends at a moment's notice. We're looking for storytellers and team players. You must be very creative and have a passion for news. No phone calls please.
Qualifications:
•3 Years television experience editing news and special features.
•Sound journalistic judgment
•An eye for visual storytelling
•Deadline oriented
•Proficient non-linear editor.
•Excellent communications skills
•Ability to work any shift
•Ability to work on-site or at home
$18-$25/hr depending on experience
