Managing Editor

WBZ-TV and CBS News Boston is seeking a highly skilled, veteran journalist to join our team as Managing Editor. The successful candidate will be ethical, collaborative, and driven by a desire to inform and help our viewers.

Responsibilities:

• Manage day to day content and daily story development.
• Work with reporters, producers, and assignment editors to develop stories that are comprehensive and engaging.
• Collaborate with reporters to improve copy and develop story-telling techniques.
• Work closely with assignment editors, producers, and executive producers to make sure newscasts reflect our communities and content strategy.
• Help drive breaking news coverage on all WBZ platforms.
• Plan special news, weather, sports events coverage.
• Manage the schedules for anchors and reporters.
• Lead strategic collaboration between WBZ and CBS News.

Preferred Education
, Experience, and Certification Requirements:
• 5 years of experience as a news manager in a large market
• Deep knowledge of Boston, and New England is strongly preferred.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Exceptional news judgement and writing skills
• Degree in journalism or communications is preferred
