Associate Producer

CBS News Texas, the Owned and Operated Station in DFW, is looking for an Associate Producer with strong multi-platform writing skills, editing abilities, and excellent news judgment. The candidate should be a proven storyteller who can build compelling content on-air, online, and on the station's various social media platforms.

This position will require you to work closely with the station's team of anchors, reporters, photographers, and fellow journalists to craft engaging news segments that resonate with our diverse audience. This individual will be pivotal in crafting dynamic daily segments, distilling intricate subjects into digestible content, and occasionally filling in for line producers. We're looking for someone who can transform ordinary reporting into captivating content.

This is not your ordinary AP opening! We are looking for a phenomenal, experienced, proactive, and highly collaborative producer who thrives in a team-oriented environment!

Key Responsibilities:
• Write and edit stories for on-air, online, and social media platforms.
• Create multi-layered segments that engage and inform our audience.
• Simplify complex topics and make them easily understandable.
• Occasionally fill in for line producers as needed.
• Demonstrate a good understanding of showcasing to enhance content appeal.
• Independently work as a self-starter, meeting critical deadlines.
• Collaborate with the editorial team to manage content quality and ensure accuracy.
• Adapt to a flexible work schedule as required by the news cycle.

Qualifications:

• 1-2 years of experience in writing for a television news outlet, preferably in a medium or large market.
• Bachelor's or technical degree in Broadcast Journalism or a related field is preferred.
• Willingness to work a flexible and varied work schedule to meet news demands.
