CBS MoneyWatch is the financial page for CBSNews.com and its CBSN live stream, covering the money matters that matter most to consumers, workers, investors and entrepreneurs in the U.S. and beyond.
We are seeking a senior reporter for the MoneyWatch section to cover a wide range of important business, economic and consumer content at the national level. The reporter should be ready to jump on breaking daily news, but the reporter also will be given opportunities to develop enterprise ideas with an eye toward making news and having an impact on CBS News audiences. We value: Aggressive reporting, sharp writing, high journalistic standards and an instinct for content that will make news. The right candidate will want to take ownership of a story from beginning to end, including presentation with compelling visuals.
Responsibilities:
Reporting and writing news and analytical content for a national audience that wants to know how the latest financial news affects their lives as consumers, workers and investors.
Developing and managing the sources and documentation to advance major news content with original reporting and analysis that delivers a special CBS News takeaway for our digital audiences.
Appearing on-camera on CBSN to report and explain original news content to our streaming audience.
Crafting video, graphics and social media assets to improve story coverage and shareability and working with network correspondents and broadcast producers from CBS News and CBSN, our 24/7 streaming network, to build smart programming on all platforms.
Opportunities will arise regularly for reporting trips and investigative projects.
Additional news duties and responsibilities, as assigned.

Capturing America's back-to-work challenges as the pandemic recession eases for some yet lingers for others, including women and underrepresented groups.
Reporting on changing consumer, worker and company perspectives and actions on issues like income inequality, racial and economic justice, gender disparities, climate change, digital privacy and other tectonic shifts reshaping the economy.
Covering the savings and investing issues - from the meme stock craze to inflation concerns - that affect people's dreams for retirement, buying a house, raising a family, paying for college or building their own business.
Diversifying our sourcing and use of real people to tell our economic and financial content in more powerful and significant ways for our digital audiences.
Qualifications:
You have -
• Bachelor's degree
• At least 10 years experience in journalism (or a journalism-related field)
• Excellent news judgment, strong writing and analytical skills
• A proven ability to craft and shape compelling, original content that matter to mass audiences
• The ability to multitask in a digital newsroom environment that values teamwork and appreciates colleagues who handle daily deadline pressures with aplomb
• Availability for on-camera work
• An understanding of SEO methodologies and facility with social media

• Master's degree in journalism
• Extensive business journalism experience that includes knowledge of markets, data, major companies, SEC filings, top executives and corporate sources
