EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Founded in 1941, the Cathedral Choral Society (CCS) has consistently presented choral masterpieces of the ages to the Washington, DC community from early Renaissance polyphony to inspirational contemporary works. This esteemed choral ensemble now seeks an Executive Director (ED), who will work in strong partnership with longstanding Music Director, J. Reilly Lewis, to build upon the Choral Society's venerable history of enriching the lives of the DC community through the beauty and excitement of choral music.
The new Executive Director will provide internal and external organizational leadership to promote and support the Cathedral Choral Society, optimizing its future success and enhancing the Society's profile in the Washington metropolitan area and beyond. The new ED will be a strong bridge builder, cultivating positive relationships with supporters, volunteers, audience, chorus members, and other partners of CCS. S/he will seek new and creative opportunities to grow and nurture partners and patrons through expanded marketing and community presence. The Executive Director will serve as a trusted partner to the artistic staff and dynamic volunteers to ensure a healthy and vital organization in support of the highest musical standards. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned leader with the operational savvy and personal presence to take a strong performing arts organization to the next level of its organizational life in pursuit of high artistic standards and strong relationships with its community.

POSITION OVERVIEW
With a strong and vibrant Board of Trustees and community of volunteers, the Cathedral Choral Society seeks an Executive Director who will provide internal and external organizational leadership to promote and support the Society's mission of enhancing the Washington, DC metropolitan region through choral music. Specifically, the ED will be expected to provide leadership in the following areas:
Executive Management
Partner with the Board of Trustees and Music Director to define the organizational direction and set in place annual planning and operational goals. S/he will oversee staff and volunteers and ensure the seamless execution of the Society's annual concert schedule and community engagement activities. S/he will cultivate and maintain a strong cooperative and collaborative relationship with the Cathedral, including the Cathedral Dean, the Cathedral Music Director, and other relevant Cathedral personnel.
Board and Community Development
The new Executive Director will work in partnership with the Board of Trustees to develop and execute a five-year strategic plan that ensures the organization's long-term musical and operational success. S/he will seek opportunities to broaden existing relationships within the DC arts and business communities to capitalize on strategic organizational goals and broaden community engagement. S/he will assist in board development and recruitment to diversify and broaden the Board of Trustees as the organization grows, deepening its ties to the larger DC community and building strategic relationships with business and community partners.
Marketing, Public Relations, and Audience Development
The new Executive Director will analyze CCS's audience trends and ticket sales and develop a long term audience management and revenue diversification plan. S/he will seek out innovative strategies to broaden the organization's audience through increased social media presence that ensures a high quality customer experience for all patrons. The ED will work in partnership with the Music Director serving as the public face of the organization, and seeking opportunities to promote CCS as a leading choral ensemble in the metro area and beyond. S/he will improve and expand the organization's annual concert program and community activities.
Fundraising and Fiscal Management
The new Executive Director will define and implement an annual fundraising plan that nurtures and builds upon the Society's longstanding foundation, community, and individual supporters. In partnership with the Society's volunteers, s/he will ensure the smooth and successful execution of the annual Gala and other fundraising initiatives. With oversight from the Trustees, s/he will be responsible for the overall fiscal health of the Society and strategic use of its endowment.
