Position Overview
Onsite requirement at our Burbank location 4 days per week, 1 day per week remote work.
The Care Advocate is responsible for working with injured workers to navigate the workers' compensation system by providing them guidance as well as connecting them to resources.
The Care Advocate will act as the injured worker's advocate throughout the life of the claim and serving Cast & Crew clients by providing superior customer service on all aspects of the claim. This position works cooperatively with Third Party Administrator (TPA) claims examiners by providing information and insight regarding relevant issues, discovery, claim nuances, and other requested claim information.
The Care Advocate supports Cast & Crew's objectives by aligning care with the company's overall claims management strategy.
Responsibilities
Become the face/voice of Cast & Crew for the injured worker and remain the primary point of contact throughout the life of the claim
Ownership of workers' compensation claimant satisfaction by providing an empathetic and supportive experience for the injured worker through use of effective and efficient strategies to resolve their issues and move claims towards resolution
Act as the claimant advocate to ensure claimant's confidence in the claims process by effectively communicating with the TPA about injured worker complaints or issues and following up with the injured worker to ensure the issue is addressed and resolved
Be involved in the injured worker's progression through recovery and make sure the injured worker feels that they are a part of the process and overall program
Provide initial CA MPN provider direction and assistance when appropriate
Assist with medical issues involving inability to set up appointment, delay in treatment, medical-legal examination questions, and communicate any issues to the TPA
Reduce litigation rates of caseload by being proactive and intervening when issues arise
Ongoing effective communication with claimant per the contact protocols
Verify factual and employment questions from the production employer
Respond to emails and phone inquiries from employers, injured workers on the same business day
Actively shorten duration of claim disability through reviewing incoming work status reports and work restrictions. Confirm production employers ability to accommodate temporary and permanent restrictions
Input and review claim documents for accuracy and adequacy
Input and review all claim notes and diaries in the Risk Management Information System (RMIS)
Additional support to claims team colleagues as needed
Other related projects or duties as assigned
Qualifications
Customer Service focused with all internal and external parties
Functions with a sense of urgency in all communications and actions
Strong analytical skills
Excellent judgment and discretion
Attention to detail in numerical analysis and verbal communication
Effective and efficient time management and organizational skills
Ability to prioritize and successfully manage multiple demands while meeting or exceeding deadlines
Excellent professional written and verbal communication skills
Proficient with Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Bachelor's Degree, CPCU and/or ARM a plus
Minimum of two to three (2-3) years of experience in claims, risk management, employee benefits and/or insurance industry
Previous insurance or employer claims advocate experience a plus, but not necessary
Special Work Conditions
Sedentary - involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Some positions may entail exerting up to 15 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force to lift, carry, push, or pull.
