A Cartel Post Production Supervisor (Post Supervisor) is responsible for managing the post production process on multiple film projects simultaneously. With clarity of information, the Post Production Supervisor has to maintain good channels of communication between the producer, editor, composer, post production facilities, and the production accountant. It is a pivotal role in ensuring collaborative fluidity, while managing budgets and meeting all deadlines. The Post Production Supervisors' role requires ingenuity, empathy and the ability to make tough decisions under pressure.
During the post production process, the Post Supervisor supplies current and accurate information to the production accountant for cost reports that are prepared at least monthly. The Post Supervisor work withs the editor, supervising sound editor, and re-recording sound mixer throughout post production, making sure that each different stage of the process is delivered on time. They continue to work on the production until all the elements needed for the completion of the film are delivered, including all legal and marketing deliverables.
Key Qualifications
Comprehensive understanding of post-production process, including file formats, procedure, and delivery
Project Management experience and skills, including experience with project management software
Track record of on time, on budget and complete film deliveries
Ability to manage multiple projects at once in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and deadlines
Excellent management skills - ability to shuffle tasks, projects, and resources while keeping everyone in the loop
Expert understanding of Adobe Software including After Effects, Premier Pro, Photoshop, & Illustrator
Team-oriented leader
Experience with ultra low, modified low, low budget films, and non-union productions
Enthusiastic about providing high quality service to customers
Willingness and flexibility to wear multiple hats; a team player
When applicable, skilled in providing creative direction and can evoke artistic/unconventional thinking in team members
Proactive approach to problem solving, ability to fix issues quickly while maintaining professionalism

Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the post-production supervisor evolve over different stages of a project and can be broken down as follows:
During Prep
If needed, consult and hire editorial teams (editors, assistant editors)
Secure bids from competing post-production vendors (vfx artists, graphics, etc), negotiate pricing and lock in deals
Work with the post coordinator, post PA, DIT and data manager to create plan for camera data to be securely backed up, transcoded, synced, delivered to editorial, and uploaded to secure sharing services at the end of each shoot day enable producer and/or studio dailies review
Ensure post-production and editorial offices are setup and ready for day one of shoot
Create post-production schedule based around shooting schedule and delivery deadlines. Ensure agreement between producers and the network or the distributor on key dates (cut turnovers, picture lock, delivery)
Prior to locking budget, ensure that all final bids and post crew are budgeted according to agreed upon schedule
During Shoot
Work with the on-set DIT or Data Manager to ensure ingested footage/data is correctly backed up, secured and transcoded and delivered to the editor in a timely manner
Ensure that any issues in dailies are communicated from editorial to the appropriate department (camera issues, sound issues, etc.)
Ensure that camera, sound, and data manifest reports are uploaded to to the Picture dropbox assigned folders on a daily basis
Work with editors to track and communicate missing coverage to production
Confirm with the editor that the picture is on track to complete a 90 minute Director's Cut at the half way point of Principal Photography
Ensure post-production schedules are up to date based on latest shooting schedule and hold corresponding dates with post vendors (sound edit, mixers, colorist)
Coordinate getting approval from directors, producers and studio on pre-lock large VFX scene turnovers and ensure VFX pulls are completed and turned over to VFX vendor
Provide weekly updates to the Post Producer, post team, and studio upon communication approval regarding any changes to schedule or major post budgetary issues
During Post-Production (After Shoot)
Act as a project manager across post-production to communicate deadlines for approvals and creative notes process between director, producers, post-production vendors and network / distributor to keep on schedule for target delivery
Track and manage cut process between editorial, producers and network / distributor, giving regular updates about cut turnovers, deadlines and ensure post stays on schedule to hit delivery deadline
Supervise the post coordinator scheduling ADR sessions with actors, sound facility and director and ensures all necessary lines are recorded and actors time is used efficiently
Work with music supervisor to assure proper legal deliveries of licenses
Arrange and attend VFX zoom sessions with editor, Post Director (VFX producer), VFX vendor, director and producer to ensure alignment between edit and creative vision for VFX and deadlines or approval milestones are agreed upon
Work with producers and Post Director to ensure final credits are built according to contracts and approved prior to picture conform
Make sure music is delivered to the post house and mixers are following creative direction set by the director
After delivery / airing
Ensure inventory, logging and correct delivery of all archival material to the network / distributor based on the agreed and budgeted deliverables
Ensure that all Cartel Pictures drives etc are properly delivered to storage facilities.
Ensure / oversee that picture is closed out and all legal deliverables have been uploaded to dropbox and are fully executed.
