The Sports Business Affairs Executive's role is to support and advise sports Agents and Executives on issues arising from a wide array of commercial transactions including: endorsement agreements, representation agreements, commission agreements, brand consulting, event production, services and contractor agreements and other general corporate matters. The incumbent must be thorough, detail-oriented, flexible, self-driven and collaborative.
Although not an exhaustive list, the role will include the following:
• Prepare, review and negotiate a wide range of sports-related commercial agreements, such as endorsement agreements, consulting agreements, services agreements, representation agreements, event production agreements, vendor agreements, intellectual property license agreements, NDAs and releases.
• Advise Agents and Executives on business and legal strategy for sports transactions of varying complexity and provide real-time and thoughtful advice to agents and executives on a variety of business and legal issues.
• Anticipate and identify potential legal issues and assist internal stakeholders in developing strategies to avoid litigation and reduce potential areas of risk.
• Monitor legal developments and update template documents to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and best practice.
• Carry out legal research and assist in effective contract administration and document management processes.
• Support the CAA Sports Business Affairs group's overall goal of increasing organizational efficiency and achievement of business objectives in a manner that minimizes legal risk.
• Foster positive long-term relationships with CAA Sports' colleagues and clients.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
• Qualified lawyer, ideally with at least 4 years PQE.
• Background in commercial/sports law, either in-house or in private practice.
• Strong academic background: Undergraduate degree in Law 2:1 or above and if undergraduate degree is not in law, a Postgraduate Diploma in Law (PGDL) at a commendation level or higher.
• Legal Practice Course (LPC) at commendation level or higher.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail/accuracy.
• Ability to manage time effectively and work independently and as a team to meet demands of the organisation.
• Must be self-motivated, enthusiastic and enjoy a team-oriented approach to work.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), and Adobe Acrobat.
• German language beneficial but not essential, as part of this role may involve supporting our Munich office.
