OVERVIEW
The Senior Director, International Tax Strategy & Planning will own the Company's global international tax strategy, planning, and structural risk management. This role is responsible for designing, governing, and maintaining consistent, defensible tax positions across international jurisdictions in support of business growth, transactions, and operational change. This is a senior, hands-on strategic role focused on planning and risk management. The role partners closely with the Global Head of Tax, International Tax Director, Finance, Legal, and business leadership to ensure tax strategy is practical, scalable, and aligned with commercial objectives .
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
International Tax Strategy & Planning
• Lead the development and execution of global international tax strategy, including structuring of cross-border activities, entities, and transactions.
• Design and maintain defensible tax planning frameworks aligned with business operations, value creation, and evolving regulatory standards.
• Proactively identify international tax risks and opportunities arising from business growth, geographic expansion, and operational changes.
Transfer Pricing
• Own global transfer pricing governance, including policy design, approval frameworks, and ongoing oversight.
• Ensure consistent application of transfer pricing policies across jurisdictions , working with regional teams and external advisors as needed.
• Oversee alignment between legal agreements, operational reality, and transfer pricing outcomes.
Structural Risk Management
• Monitor and evaluate international tax developments (e.g., OECD initiatives, local law changes) and assess impact on existing and proposed structures.
• Assess and manage permanent establishment (PE) risk, including review of operating models, personnel deployment, and intercompany arrangements.
• Advise on entity structuring, restructuring, and rationalization from a tax perspective, ensuring structures remain fit for purpose over time.
Transactions & Business Initiatives
• Lead tax strategy and structuring for international transactions, reorganizations, acquisitions, and post-integration activities.
• Partner with Legal, Finance, and business teams to embed tax considerations into deal execution and business initiatives from inception through implementation.
• Provide clear, actionable tax guidance to senior stakeholders to support informed decision-making.
Leadership & Collaboration
• Serve as a senior strategic partner to the Global Head of Tax and International Tax Director, ensuring tax strategies are operationally sound and executable.
• Collaborate closely with Tax Operations, Finance, Legal, and external advisors to align strategy with execution and reporting.
• Contribute to the development of global tax governance standards, frameworks, and best practices.
• Provide tax advisory support to senior leadership on strategic initiatives, transactions, contracts, and new market entry.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
• 15+ years of international tax experience across multinational corporate and/or Big 4 environments.
• Deep expertise in international tax planning, cross-border structuring, and transfer pricing governance.
• Strong understanding of permanent establishment risk, entity structuring, and global operating models.
• Proven experience leading tax aspects of international transactions and restructurings.
• Ability to translate complex tax concepts into clear, pragmatic guidance for senior business stakeholders.
• Experience operating in complex, multinational environments with diverse regulatory regimes.
Preferred Qualifications
• Advanced degree or professional qualification in tax, accounting, law, or a related field (e.g., JD, CPA, ACA, CTA, ADIT).
• Experience working closely with US-based tax leadership in a global organization.
• Exposure to tax governance design and implementation in fast-growing or transforming businesses.
