Job Description
Our Music Business Affairs department is seeking an experienced Professional to join the team
Responsibilities
• Negotiate and finalize standardized sets of Terms and Conditions with buyers under supervision of Music Department Business Affairs executives
• Review and negotiate agreements for Music clients' live performances
• Review and negotiate agreements for Music clients in other areas such as marketing, sponsorships
• Provide advice and counsel to agents and assistants to navigate transactions for clients
• Breach/Demand Letters: work closely with agents to draft breach/demand letters on behalf of clients; track communication/payment deadlines; engage in follow-up correspondence as necessary, etc.
• General contract inquiries and troubleshooting: initial responder to agents' offices regarding contract language, acceptable revisions, etc. for performance agreements
• Cease & Desist Letters: draft and send cease and desist letters to third parties engaging in unauthorized representation of our clients and follow-up to ensure the unauthorized activity has ceased after correspondence is sent
• Other legal work as needed subject to guidance and direction of Music Department Business Affairs executives
Qualifications
• 3+ years of intensive negotiation experience
• Transactional experience
• Comfort with contract language and drafting
• Excellent communication skills
• Possess strong writing skills
• Comfortable taking ownership of substantive areas of work
• Attention to detail and accuracy of information
• Ability to take direction and guidance from department leaders and develop independence with respect to workload
• Ability to accommodate different working styles of colleagues and client teams
• Comfort with multi-tasking and quick responsiveness to colleagues and other client representatives is a must
• Excellent judgment with respect to representing CAA to buyers, business world, etc.
• Previous work in entertainment or music industry a plus, but not necessary
Requirements
All candidates must have one of the following:
• A certificate of completion of an ABA approved paralegal program
• A certificate of completion of a paralegal program at, or a degree from, a postsecondary institution that requires the successful completion of a minimum of 24 semester, or equivalent, units in law-related courses and that has been accredited by a national or regional accrediting organization or approved by the Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education
• A baccalaureate degree or an advanced degree in any subject, and a minimum of one year of law-related experience under the supervision of an attorney
• A high school diploma or general equivalency diploma with a minimum of three years of law-related experience under the supervision of an attorney
Compensation
The annual base salary for this position is in the range of $70k - $82k. This position also is eligible for benefits and discretionary bonus. Ultimately, the salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, business sector, and geographic location, among other criteria.
