This is a Full Time Job
We are looking for a new detail-oriented and efficient Assistant to Literary Agent to join our team, primarily to support one of our Agents. This Assistant will work on a client list comprised of local and international authors of popular non-fiction and fiction with focus on books in popular culture, music, comedy, film and television, current affairs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Management of a busy diary and contacts lists, travel booking, scheduling & expenses.
• Logging deals on behalf of the Literary Agent and overseeing the deal process.
• Management of multiple databases, from publication to rights.
• Liaising with our Business Affairs and Accounts departments to track payments and contracts.
• Reading and commenting on authors' new material and submissions.
• Dealing with enquiries about rights, publicity and author material.
• Acting as the primary point of contact for client enquiries by telephone and email.
• Liaising with the Literary Agent on day-to-day author business.
• Fielding phone calls and emails for the Literary Agent.
• Correspondence drafting.
• Preparing newsletters, writing website and marketing copy.
• Handling post, author copies, book orders.
• Online and social media research into trends and client prospects.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
• Must have a passion for books/reading and be keen to develop a career in the publishing industry, specifically in popular non-fiction.
• Interest in other types of media, such as podcasts, film/TV, visual arts, and the ability to identify trends.
• Strong awareness of popular non-fiction trends, from social media creators to film and TV personalities, comedians, musicians and journalists.
• Should have proven solid administrative experience.
• Excellent organisation skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to take ownership of tasks and prioritise workload to meet tight deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Confidence in working with high profile figures and multiple stakeholders.
• Previous experience with Outlook and other MS Office programmes.
• Additional language skills are desirable but not essential.
• Publishing experience preferable.
