THE POSITION
Are you looking for an exciting internship experience? Our paid Internship Program provides real-world experience for students who are interested in the live entertainment industry. After finishing this program, you will have gained broad experience in various aspects live event business. You can also expect to apply your academic learning to real-world situations and cultivate your leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills. This is a part-time position, working 15-20 hours per week. You must have availability to be in the office Tues-Thurs.
WHAT THIS ROLE WILL DO
This internship is a broad, multifunctional role assisting the Merchandise team in all aspects of creating, producing, shipping, and selling a music festival merchandise collection. Primarily focused on logistics and operations, but with opportunities to explore all functions of the team including creative management, retail planning & buying, ecommerce, and brand partnerships.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
They will gain an understanding of the role of merchandise as a revenue stream in the overall landscape of a music festival, and glimpse the entire life cycle of a merchandise collection from initial ideation to festival, as well as post-festival inventory management. They will learn overall department administration, fundamentals of festival merchandise planning, and how to address the logistical challenges of building and running merchandise locations at large-scale, high-traffic events.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• This role requires you to be in our Austin, TX office Tuesday-Thursday. This is NOT a remote internship opportunity.
• Currently enrolled in an accredited College or University. Preferably in a field related to the internship you are applying for
• Previous experience preferred (school, internship, or professional)
• Creative thinker and problem solver
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Must have own laptop to bring to the office
• Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook skills
• Acute sense of judgment, tact, and diplomacy
• A strong sense of teamwork and ability to execute programs
• Understanding and proficiency with Adobe Illustrator encouraged but not required
• Basic understanding of data analysis for retail business operations
• Preferred interest in music industry, fashion, retail, current trends
• Commit to a minimum of 15 hours or 3 days per week on a part-time basis
