BuzzFeed is looking for a Post-Production Tech Supervisor to join our Production Technology team in Los Angeles. BuzzFeed produces a wide scope of diverse content, ranging from short form social media content to BuzzFeed episodic shows. This role will be integral in maintaining effective performance of our post-production ecosystem, which includes multiple shared store environments, archiving libraries, and our technical support ticket system.
This role is a full-time contract term position. Start date is ASAP and projected end date is Dec 31, 2023, with the possibility of extension. Pay range is between $40.62/hr - $46.87/hr, depending on experience. This role is on location in our Los Angeles office, from 9am-6pm PT.
Responsibilities:
-Maintain effectiveness and reliability of our Post-Production ecosystem, which includes local/remote SAN & NAS storages and AWS storage, both S3 and Glacier, exceeding 3PB in capacity.
-Support ~40 users with daily tech Help Desk requests, encompassing Premiere issues, macOS errors related to video workflow, hardware malfunctions, and license transfers.
-Work with the Post-Production leads in implementing our digital asset management strategy and archive workflow.
-Work with Post-Production staff to continually streamline processes, and red flag issues before they occur.
-Manage and maintain ~40 of our macOS & Windows edit workstations using Apple Remote Desktop with assistance from IT. Workstations exist locally, remotely, and virtually.
-Integrate and deploy new applications as needed, and administrate software updates in a timely and seamless manner.
-Look for and identify gaps in workflow and build tools for automation as needed.
-Occasionally recover data from broken hard drives or corrupt media files.
-Work closely with IT to forecast and cover Post-Production's ever-growing technology needs.
-Research and implement relevant software for Post-Production including NLE, Color, Sound, VFX, and work-from-home tools.
Qualifications:
-4+ years of advanced experience with Adobe applications, including Premiere, Media Encoder, After Effects, and Photoshop.
-2+ years media managing storage servers, such as a SAN or NAS. Experience with Quantum StorNext is a plus.
-1+ year experience with AWS, such as S3, Glacier, or EC2.
-Deep knowledge of macOS and Windows regarding video workflows and storage administration (SMB, drive formats, modern connectivity standards, etc).
-Deep knowledge of common frame rates, bitrates, and video codecs (ProRes, DNxHD, H.264, H.265, etc).
-Basic knowledge of networking standards, such as IP addresses, DHCP, subnet masking, Cat5E, Cat6A, etc.
-Ability to communicate complex technical concepts in a simple, easy-to-understand manner.
-Experience with programming languages, such as BASH, JavaScript, SQL is a plus.
-Experience coordinating databases with REST APIs is a plus.
-Experience transcoding with FFmpeg or Telestream Vantage is a plus.
-Experience with Iconik or similar cloud asset management system is a plus.
Salary/Benefits
$40.62 - 46.87 per hour
