Job Summary
The Motion Graphics Operations Manager is an important role at Buddha Jones. They understand the entertainment landscape well, and are responsible for creation, production and management of multi-platform content within motion graphics, servicing the entirety of Buddha Jones. Providing leadership and guidance to Graphics Producers, Coordinators, Designers and Artists will help to shape the content creation process and maintain profitability and operational standards for the department as a whole. They are adaptable to any new opportunity and thrive on building the teams to fulfill those prospects. They are a champion for company culture while creating and maintaining best practices for Buddha Jones.
General Accountabilities
- Liaise with all Buddha Jones Departments to achieve creative goals in a profitable manner: AV, TV Streaming, Games, Digital, and Finishing.
- Foster a creative and collaboratively fulfilling work environment for a department ranging from 15-25 active employees
- Collaborate with Head of Graphics to assess and assign resources on current and upcoming campaigns
- Guide and allocate the day-to-day resource needs in an ever-shifting high-volume creative environment
- Communicate criteria of success and provide leadership/ mentorship for Graphics Admin teams providing clear guidance, feedback and supervision to encourage professional development
- Forge new opportunities to improve upon efficiencies and processes as it pertains to the operations within the graphics department, and communications with other branches of the company
- Oversee internal production profitability margins and overhead as related to individual project health, as well as all-in department health
- Mentor, guide and support Graphics Producers in budgeting, and tracking project health on a project-by-project basis.
- Collaborate with finance department to complete actualizations for individual projects, and determine future projections
- Review and approve all estimates, statements of work, schedule, budgets and other critical project documentation as it relates to motion graphics
- Approve all invoices and POR's as they apply to motion graphics
- Approve budget estimates created by Graphics Producers for individual projects ensuring alignment from Job Producers and Finance while balancing creative standards.
- Point of contact for day-to-day workflow and process needs for all motion graphics staff ensuring they are accountable and prepared to deliver on the requirements their position demands
- Oversee lifecycle of each project ensuring proper resources and efficiencies where applicable
- Oversee and assist with finishing pipeline troubleshooting and support as needed
- Practice quality-control measuring and corrective action steps to enhance product and ensure highest-quality deliverables
- Responsible for identifying best-in-class suppliers, negotiating fees, hiring and managing outside vendor relationships/partnerships
- Recruit and retain a robust and diverse team of Art Directors, Designers, 3D and 2D animators, as well as any specialized talent needed with a growing freelance roster
- Manage the freelance roster, bookings and communications to secure current and future resource allocation balancing upcoming resource needs with department profitability
- Ensure vendor documentation and requirements are clearly communicated and managed throughout the project
- Assess, research and lead IT initiatives as well as help with troubleshooting where applicable
- Manage production on a project basis as needed
- In partnership with Head of Graphics, complete and execute performance reviews
- Stay up to date on all competitive activity and new trends in the market place
- Other responsibilities as needed
