Full Time Job
Brownstein PR an independently-owned entertainment public relations firm specializing in talent, film, and media publicity is currently accepting resumes for an experienced coordinator to be of assistance to the company on its Advocacy, Activism, and Celebrity clientele. Our candidate has about 1 year of experience in Public Relations or Strategic Communications, is highly driven and enthusiastic, has exceptional written and oral communication and writing skills is extremely detail-oriented in being able to manage a high volume of emails and correspondence in 5 different time zones, sharp, intuitive, and able to think on their feet in a fast-paced news cycle environment. This is remote and our candidate must be able to work independently, be able to prioritize, jump in, understand (or want to) the fickle and quickly moving news cycle, and help get the clients the exposure they are asking for.
THIS IS A REMOTE POSITION AND WILL CONSIDER CANDIDATES IN BOTH THE PACIFIC AND EASTERN TIME ZONES.
If you have ever worked in a newsroom, or have worked in closing a magazine, or have worked on an event - you understand the ebbs and flows of the position. Some days it's really calm and other days we are on fire and can't seem to put it out. We handle very high-profile clients, so we provide calm in this storm with sophistication and grace. Looking for our perfect fit.
MUST HAVE PROFICIENCY AND EXPERIENCE IN:
- MANAGING A HEAVY CALENDAR AND EMAILS
- Working Proficiency in CISION
- MICROSOFT OFFICE 365 with a PC (all the programs)
- CANVA
- Technical programs (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Slack, Dropbox, etc)
- internships or paid positions where you would write correspondence, memos, skeletons for press releases, help keep up excel tracking sheets, do media update reports, calculate UVM, research media contacts, provide assets on deadline, etc.
Also, we straddle five time zones. Our clients are in the UK, Los Angeles, New York, Toronto, Colorado, Idaho, Utah, and Mexico. We are often on big last-minute deadlines with some of our media clients as they close monthly issues. The person must be willing to work long hours during the closing week, (which is about three to four days a month,) working with the team to read the material, source soundbites and quotes, get approvals on all BTS and Press material and assist with placement and monitoring. There will be some weekends, there will be some late nights. We do give PTO for those to make up for it, and have a very generous vacation and floating holiday policy.
Our candidate will understand that this is not a 9 - 5 job, and be inserted into accounts from day 1 and is able, willing, and excited to jump in and contribute. Must be interested in working with heavy news cycles where pitching cable news outlets in different time zones can also often be the case.
Ideally, this person wants to be a PUBLICIST or work in Strategic Communications and have a degree in PR or Communications, or have taken a PR class, as well as understand how to create press kits, write pitch letters and bios, coordinate media requests, etc.
Some responsibilities include:
Coordinating busy schedules for clients and publicists, answering phones, monitoring press mentions and handling requests, managing client/publicist calendars, updating/maintaining industry contacts for publicists/office, booking travel arrangements and creating detailed travel itineraries for clients, updating press kits, covering client events for a publicist, covering photoshoots, covering press junkets, and covering other publicity related activities.
