POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Director of Programs position will oversee the conception, designing, implementation, management, and evaluation of all Red Sox Foundation (RSF) programming and partnerships. S/he will be responsible for a developing a staff of 4 individuals, which requires strong people management, communication, and systems-development skills. S/he will assist the Executive Director (ED) with thinking through the strategy, partnerships and programming of the organization. S/he will report directly to the Executive Director and will be a key internal and external face of the organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Leadership:
o Develop and maintain strategies and systems to maximize synergies between programs and people
o Cultivate existing and new relationships with key stakeholders to ensure programs' growth and sustainability
o Serve as the key liaisonbetween RSF and each programs' implementers and executers; manage these networks of partners to ensure the development of relationships and programming
o Communicate consistently and collaborate closely with the ED and other department heads, as relevant, to promote organizational cohesiveness and to ensure that all program goals and criteria are being met
Team Management & Development:
o Support, coach, retain, and motivate a growing staff of 4 diverse individuals
o Work with direct reports and other staff to develop objective performance measurements es to ensure consistent, high-quality evaluation and goal setting for all employees
o Instill a sense of accountability among team members by modeling tight oversight of individual and organization performance standards
o Facilitate teamwork amongst staff to develop and improve the organizational culture
Program & Partnership Management:
o Oversee the design, execution, evaluation and modification of all programs in partnership with the ED, the Board of Directors, and the Boston Red Sox
o Assist the ED with managing the three key partnerships the Foundation currently has to ensure maximum impact
o Develop effective and efficient tools for measuring the success of each program and partnership for both internal and external audiences
o Create cross-departmental systems to track all relevant program data, and ensure that data is being captured, assessed, and reported to key stakeholders
o Facilitate all necessary research as it relates to program and partnership validation
o Help create and manage all program budgets to ensure fiscal responsibility and program effectiveness
o Conduct regular assessments of all program and partner services and people to provide valuable recommendations for organizational improvements
o Manage peer organization's partnerships and collaborations to maximize programs' resources and outcomes
o Communicate the programs' and partnerships' goals, needs and achievements clearly and frequently to internal and external audiences
o Assist with improved branding, marketing, and awareness of organizational programs and partners
Characteristics
/Qualifications:
• A Bachelors degree (Masters degree preferred)
• A track record as an effective communicator; highly developed skills in writing and speaking; competence in creating strategic reports, presentations, and performance/program evaluations; the ability to communicate the organization's mission and interests to a broad audience
• Strong interpersonal and staff management skills, with successful experience managing direct reports
• Excellent software skills, particularly with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
• An ability to compile and analyze data (experience using Salesforce and Excel is preferred)
• An affinity and proven track record for teamwork and an ability to work well with a broad range of constituencies
• Proven success in managing relationships with and securing buy-in from key external partners
• A comfort level for working under pressure to meet deadlines
• An ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment; sound organizational skills
