POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Accounting Operations Specialist will serve as a key member of the Finance team with responsibilities within the areas of payroll, accounts payable and financial analysis for the baseball club, real estate entities, and Red Sox Foundation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Payroll:
• Process all aspects of variable pay within ADP payroll system and ABI time tracking system
• Achieve proficiency in the entire payroll process and serve as the backup for all payroll cycles
• Assist with the distribution of annual W2's
• Maintain payroll process documentation and assist with efforts for improvement and enforcement of payroll related accounting policies and control procedures
• Maintain monthly close procedures and reconciliation of assigned payroll related GL accounts
• Perform routine labor reporting and analysis to assist management with necessary staffing and scheduling decisions
Expense Management:
• Review and process Concur travel expense reports and serve as point of contact for employees
• Review and track all consulting contracts and process all corresponding invoices in accordance with agreed upon business terms
• Assist with the processing of vendor invoices and issue resolution
• Serve as backup to the weekly vendor payment cycle process
• Responsible for the annual 1099 data review, distribution and filing
Financial Analysis and Customer Support:
• Support budget and forecast reviews with FP&A group with researching and resolving variances
• Respond quickly and accurately to all inquiries and provide the highest level of customer service
• Participate on special projects and other cross-functional initiatives as assigned by management
CHARACTERISITICS / QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree in the area of Accounting, Finance, or business preferred
• Minimum of 2-3 years of related experience in a mid/large corporate environment
• Experience with ADP, Concur and MS Dynamics GP highly desired
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
• Strong attention to detail and high accuracy level
• High proficiency in MS Office Excel and Word required
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
