We are seeking a Vice President, Creative for Film/TV/Visual Media. The role is based in our Los Angeles office. The primary responsibility is to grow and maintain market share as well as develop the overall growth of the Company by securing new business; managing current accounts; developing and executing acquisition and retention strategies; managing the day-to-day departmental operations; and providing outstanding customer service.
The following are examples of the essential functions for this role:
• Grow and maintain BMI’s market share and affiliate base. This is largely accomplished by recruiting new composers, orchestrators and music publishers who have the potential to become the creators and owners of the world's most popular music. It includes developing and maintaining relationships with music industry executives and professionals, up-and-coming music professionals, composers, orchestrators, agents, and managers. Develop and implement programs to attract new affiliates to BMI and nurture their growth through, but not limited to, showcases, seminars, industry conventions, festivals and educational events. Attend music industry events as a BMI representative to maintain BMI’s profile and increase contacts.
• Lead the Film/TV/Visual Media team to achieve market share growth, maximize affiliate retention and provide excellent customer service. Provide leadership in developing and strengthening inter-team communication and cohesiveness. Identify team members’ developmental opportunities; identify formal and informal opportunities and resources to support their growth.
• Maintain a current understanding of competitive pressures and how they impact BMI; informing the leadership team and making recommendations as appropriate. Address challenges and concerns as they arise and consistently demonstrate the ability to successfully problem solve.
• Create and manage the departmental budget.
POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
A Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience preferred.
Qualified candidates should have a Minimum 10 years’ experience in the music industry. Skills and abilities should include: a proven ability to analyze songs/scores and music for commercial success, a working knowledge of the song/score and music process from conception to hit status and strong relationships & excellent reputation in the film and TV industries. Must be able to work extended hours and be flexible with travel.
