POSITION SUMMARY: Directs the efforts of technology development operational functions including database administration, data receiving / processing and production scheduling. Performs product planning, financial planning, IT asset management and vendor management for department. Works closely with stakeholders including developers, technical staff and business clients to ensure we deliver to established service levels.
FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
• Lead and promote the adoption of team standards, processes and best practices in information and metadata management, influencing technology decisions related to the management of the company’s data assets.
• Promote the organization’s education, adoption and adherence to these practices. As required, serve on internal councils to expand the company’s opportunities and provide guidance on the company’s data-centric technologies.
• Manage departmental resource allocations, plans, tasks, deliverables, documentation, and deadlines. Monitor the progress and implementation of multiple tasks and projects. Coordinate with Program Management staff to ensure IT project milestones are achieved and also to provide regular status updates to the appropriate parties.
• Provide strong direction, mentoring and leadership to the Technology Development team members. Conduct consistent and timely performance management, training and career development discussions and activities.
• Build a workplace culture of innovation, high performance, accountability, commitment, respect and teamwork.
• Provides leadership during the development and implementation of initiatives including; working with applications, technical support and operations during design, development and implementation.
• Stays informed about technology innovations and contributes to thought leadership by presenting on these topics to internal partners.
• Develop product roadmaps and upgrade plans for IBM and Oracle software and related infrastructure.
• Coordinate departmental roadmaps with IT and company roadmaps to facilitate prioritization and coordination of technology and application development plans.
• Monitor system and storage resource utilization and coordinate with Applications Development and Infrastructure areas to perform IT capacity planning.
• Monitor departmental expenses against planned budget. Coordinate with IT and Finance to provide inputs for annual budget planning and forecasting activities.
• Perform vendor management activities such as product evaluation, product selection, price negotiation, and deployment planning. Partner with Purchasing to acquire and implement vendor products.
• Perform IT asset management role including (IBM and Oracle) license tracking and documentation, implementation and upgrade planning, and product disposal activities.
• Aligns Technology Development’s tools and capabilities to business user and leadership needs to demonstrate value and opportunity.
• Provide oversight of DB2 and Oracle DBMS monitoring, optimization, backup and recovery operations.
• Provide oversight of enterprise production scheduling and data center operations.
• Participates in and/or leads meetings between key constituents to discuss new products, resolve open issues and provide progress updates
• Authors thorough content and documentation that clearly articulates complex concepts and requirements while driving to a desired end result.
• Regular attendance.

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field. Equivalent work experience may be considered.
• Minimum ten years experience building and managing high performance, multi-disciplined data teams. Experience with data management, data integration, analytics, and/or marketing database platforms preferred.
• Minimum two years experience managing capital and expense budgets of $1M
• Experience with music data a strong plus.
• Must demonstrate strong leadership, negotiation, conflict resolution and consensus-building skills across executive, business and technical groups
• Must possess excellent people management skills and have demonstrable achievement managing and leading technical teams
• Ability to analyze complex product opportunities and identify and define solutions
• Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex solutions to technical and non-technical audiences
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
• Strong analytical / problem-solving skills
• Ability to understand financial information including budgets, forecasts, profit and loss statements and to resolve actual versus planned expenses.
• Ability to perform research on IT products and to evaluate their applicability to solve company business requirements.
• Ability to network with vendor and industry personnel and to identify solutions, evaluate proposals, recommend purchases, negotiate product procurement and implementation costs, and coordinate with Purchasing and Finance departments.
• Ability to track and manage IT assets including researching and understanding complex licensing information and to track compliance against license entitlements.
• Organized, goal-oriented, self-starter, can manage multiple tasks from start to completion with limited supervision
• Knowledge of entertainment industry a plus
