POSITION SUMMARY: Works across the organization to design data processes and systems which will support applications and improve how BMI manages and utilizes data. Builds the strategy for solutions and ensures the implementation of BMI’s data platform.
FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
Essential Functions: which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.
• Deliver diagrams, acceptance criteria and other documentation to ensure developers are sufficiently informed in order to implement innovative solutions that meet the needs of application development and business users for efficient, accurate data environments.
• Works with data developers, data modelers, application developers, architects, business analysts, and business users to design and support BMI’s data platform
• Define technical specifications to change or develop systems. This is inclusive of all aspects of the system development life cycle, coding, design, and testing.
• Interrogate systems and databases to define processing required to meet development deliveries and expectations.
• Identify gaps in business requirements and collaborate with team members from other departments to obtain clarity and detail required for developers to code.
• Design systems and procedures after reviewing business requirements.
• Estimate resources needed for proposed systems.
• Assist in programs to educate management and users so that they fully understand the capabilities and requirements of their systems.
• Demonstrates and promotes a workplace culture of innovation, high performance, accountability, commitment, respect and teamwork
• Provides input related to resource allocations, project plans and deadlines
• Monitors the progress and integration of multiple tasks and projects
• Provides regular status updates to the appropriate parties

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education:
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Experience:
• Minimum five years of experience with enterprise data architecture, data modeling, ETL, SQL Server relational databases and high volume transaction processing systems, preferably in an enterprise-class, custom software development environment
• Minimum three years’ experience in T-SQL, query optimization, indexing, replication, and data presentation to business users
• Minimum three years of experience working in a large data environment (5 TB of production data preferred)
• Minimum three years of experience with data modeling tools (e.g. Erwin); experience in normalized, dimensional, star schema and snow-flake models
Skills
and Abilities: which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Proficiency in managing or implementing master data management (MDM) projects and solutions
• Proficiency with data processing concepts, basic statistical tools, strong database concepts
• Proven track record of full life cycle successes from inception to successful completion and production support
• Well versed with software engineering processes (especially Agile)
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Organized, goal-oriented, self-starter, can manage multiple tasks from start to completion with limited supervision
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions
• Knowledge of entertainment industry a plus
