JOB DESCRIPTION
SUMMER INTERNSHIP
Our summer internship program is a fun, exciting and education-packed 10 weeks. Each intern is specially selected and placed in a department that best fits their skills and interests. Throughout the 10 weeks they will be mentored and supervised by a Blue Sky professional in that field.
All of the Summer 2019 internships start in early June and end in early August. They are open to all college students whose graduation dates fall within the following time frame: Winter 2018 through Spring 2020. All applicants must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship by the Company.
CHARACTER SIMULATION
The Character Simulation Artist has a broad range of responsibilities that revolve around running dynamic simulations (garments, hair, skin, muscle) to enhance and support the animated character's performance. Character Simulation interns should have resourceful problem solving skills, strong visual aesthetics, working knowledge of Maya or Houdini, scripting skills (python is a plus), and a practical understanding of dynamic motion in either of the described areas.

Education
and/or Experience Required:
Pursuing BS or MS in Animation, Fine Arts, Computer Science, Computer Visualization or related studies.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
• Learn to work with modelers to design functional garments that meet the aesthetic needs of the film and technical needs of the software.
• Learn to assign physical properties to the cloth and work with Character TDs to create non-physical controls so they can be animated in an appealing, predictable and efficient way.
• Learn to work closely with animators to achieve the desired performances in shots where the garments appear.
• Shadow team members in Character Simulation and complete learning assignments created for them by the team.

• Basic understanding or curiosity to understand dynamic systems
• Basic aesthetic sensibility for character and motion
