Billboard: Summer Editorial Internship
Calling all pop culture stans, Hot 100 stat nerds and data-driven journalists: Billboard is looking for a responsible, driven, detail-oriented intern who is well-versed in all facets of the music industry to join our fast-paced newsroom.
Daily responsibilities include writing news posts for the website; pitching stories to staff editors; assisting with research and fact-checking for print stories; transcribing interviews; and helping with other magazine-related tasks such as building print posts in the CMS and preserving the archives.
We're always looking for fresh, creative pitches on the ever-evolving industry, so a proactive intern will apply a business-focused mentality while sniffing out trends, discovering new talents, interviewing artists and publishing features online. Are the ever-growing K-pop and Latin markets your thing? Obsessively tracking the next soon-to-be TikTok hit? More into the behind-the-scenes business of record deals? We want to hear about it!
The ideal candidate will have some experience writing clean copy for music or entertainment media, stellar reporting skills and ideas for what artists, industry shifts and genre niches Billboard should be covering in 2021. Please include links to 2-3 writing samples or clips somewhere in your application.
This is a paid, 24 hour/week, 12-week internship with a start date in early June. Although this is currently a remote position, all applicants must live and work in New York for the duration of the internship to be considered.
