Billboard: Creative Director
With a discerning eye for visual storytelling, the Creative Director will lead and elevate the brand’s visual identity across all platforms: print, digital, video, social, and experiential. The Creative Director will drive the creative vision that defines how Billboard shows up in the world, ensuring consistency, innovation, and cultural resonance in every execution.
This leader will collaborate with editorial, design, marketing, and events teams to produce cutting-edge creative that resonates with global audiences and keeps Billboard at the forefront of music and pop culture.
Responsibilities
• Spearhead Billboard’s print redesign; develop sophisticated design that resonates with the Billboard audience.
• Refresh Billboard’s visual identity, ensuring consistency and impact across print, digital, video, social media, and live events.
• Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary design team, fostering innovation, collaboration, and high creative standards.
• Partner with editorial leadership to concept and deliver compelling covers, photography, graphics, and multimedia storytelling.
• Collaborate with marketing, sales, and events teams to create bold, brand-aligned campaigns, activations, and experiential designs.
• Drive creative for Billboard’s tentpole events (e.g., Billboard Music Awards, Women in Music, Power 100) and ensure elevated brand presence.
• Anticipate cultural trends and experiment with new formats, visual languages, and design technologies to keep Billboard relevant and future-forward.
• Innovate workflows with use of AI tools to drive efficiency.
• Manage workflows, resources, and budgets to deliver projects on time and at the highest quality.
Requirements:
• 10 years of design/creative experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role at a media, lifestyle, entertainment, or cultural brand.
• Expertise in design tools (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma) and demonstrated skills across print layouts, vector, typography, photo editing, illustration, UX/UI, and familiarity with video, motion, and 3D.
• A strong portfolio showcasing digital, print, and experiential creative with cultural impact.
• Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with a track record of mentoring creative talent.
• Deep understanding of music, pop culture, and visual storytelling.
• Ability to balance big-picture vision with hands-on execution.
• Strong project management, organizational, and communication skills.
