Lighting Technicians at the Big Apple Circus must be willing to do the following:
• Assist with load-in / load-out for the lighting and electrical departments - setting up theatrical lighting, generators, emergency lighting, power distribution, etc.
• Load semi's and flatbed trailers with lighting and other electrical equipment
• Operate a follow-spot during show-time, and call follow-spot cues as needed
• Participate in daily set-up and maintenance of lighting equipment (dimmer check, etc)
• Help with the lighting build of each new annual production
• Maintain a safe working environment at all times by conforming to established safety policies and procedures, participating in required safety classes, and completing emergency rescue procedures training. Comply with all safety and security procedures related to the show.
• Work in confined spaces
• Work outdoors in all seasons
• Assist other crews as needed
General Requirements:
• Basic understanding of theatrical terms and directions
• Ability to read, comprehend, and write basic instructions
• Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions
• Professional appearance and demeanor
• Ability to climb truss and wire rope ladders to work and perform repairs at heights up to 50' while following all OSHA standards - please note that safety equipment provided by the company has a 300lb weight limit
• Ability to lift 50lbs and push / pull 100lbs
• Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
