Freelance Editor (Storytelling) - Big Ten Network
Big Ten Network is seeking an experienced, highly motivated, and team-oriented freelance long-form storytelling editor to join our freelance editing team. The ideal candidate has an extensive background in Adobe Premiere Pro, 3+ years of experience working in sports television, and a working knowledge of Big Ten sports.
Applicants for this role should have an at-home editing setup and stable internet connection for remote work or the ability to commute to the office.
This role will span from roughly August through March, with the largest area of need from late October through February.
A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Edit features, docuseries, and any other storytelling pieces needed
• Serve as a post-producer, taking a script and making storytelling decisions with or without consistent input from a producer.
• Address Producer notes throughout the process
• Mix audio and perform color correction within Adobe Premiere
• Reformat and deliver storytelling pieces for both linear and social media platforms
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
• 2+ years of experience as an editor in long form production
• Extensive experience with Adobe Premiere Pro
• Experience mixing audio and color correction
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment on tight deadlines
• Ability to understand and troubleshoot technical problems associated with video editing
• Ability to edit from home (uploading and downloading footage/pieces from cloud storage) OR the ability to commute to the B1G Network offices in Chicago to work
• Adobe creative cloud subscription and a computer capable of handling up to 4k video editing (most video in 1080p) as well as storage if working remotely
• Flexible schedule, capable working nights and weekends as well as adapting to the ever-evolving production schedule
• Capable of working closely with a team
• Capable of working with minimal supervision when needed – including editing long form content without a producer
• High level attention to detail
• High level time management
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational skills
NICE TO HAVE BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER
• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Broadcasting, Radio/TV/Film, or equivalent work experience
• After Effects and Photoshop experience
• Knowledge of Big Ten sports

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is: $35.00-45.00 per hour. We provide Freelancers medical/dental/vision insurance and 401k after they meet eligibility criteria and any State required time-off, in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
