This is a role for someone who has a strong background in media relations, solid press contacts and a clear understanding of how the music industry works. We are a small (but mighty) team and are looking for a PR maven. We have a busy year ahead and are in need of someone who understands release schedules, lead time, campaign roll-outs, onboarding, client/team relations, premieres, festivals, playlisting and has a great understanding of the entertainment industry as a whole, as well as a passion to work in it. We want to hear from you if you enjoy overdelivering rather than meeting expectations. We want a leader and team player who can take pride in being part of something good with the best interest of Big Picture Media in mind.
Responsibilities Include:
• Spearheading your own campaigns.
• Assisting Senior Publicists on single, album, tour press and event campaigns.
• Pitching stories to top tier media outlets via email and phone pitching.
• Drafting media materials, including pitches, press releases, profiles, and press kit materials.
• Handling tour press, including regional alerts, preview pitching, coordinating press lists and photo pass requests with artists teams, etc.
• Working on music festivals, red carpet events, photo shoots, promo shoots, shows, and press days as needed.
• Handling on-site event responsibilities, including press check-in, coordinating interviews, and more, as well as representing Big Picture Media values to the best of your ability.
• Monitoring media outlets for coverage of client news and creating/maintaining coverage reports.
• Managing company socials and sharing client news across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.
• Researching new publications, writers, etc. to pitch clients across a variety of regional, music, and lifestyle outlets.
• Proof-reading and editing client related documents as needed.
• Creating wrap books.
• Assisting with intern interviews, helping coordinate schedules.
• Providing training and guidance to interns, answering questions.
• Bringing in potential new business.
• Helping maintain our company calendar; scheduling calls, sending reminders, and taking notes.
Requirements:
• You have at least 2-3 years of public relations experience, with a focus on music.
• You must be a strong writer - persuasive, concise, creative, and quick!
• You have a growing list of relationships with entertainment media and know how to leverage those relationships to secure impactful media opportunities.
• Must be able to show proof of previous press campaign coverage you secured.
• Must have strong contacts and great proven relationships within the music industry.
• Be a self-starter and quick learner who is comfortable taking initiative.
• Exceptional time management skills and ability to multi-task in order to consistently meet deadlines.
• Adaptable to change and have proactive behavior.
• Be willing to travel.
• Exceptional judgment when working with team members, clients and media.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Be a positive source of energy within the office and over slack.
• Be a team player and willing to help any BPM staffer at any time.
You Should Apply If:
• You love music and the entertainment / events industry.
• You have a genuine knowledge, passion and excitement for Big Picture Media's current roster of clients while also being able to think about new artists, events and more that would be a good fit within the BPM family.
• You want to grow with the company.
• You are a strategic thinker, bring new ideas to the table, and love a good brainstorm.
• You have an innate curiosity and an entrepreneurial spirit.
• You are incredibly organized and able to excel at managing multiple projects simultaneously.
