Digital Post Producer
Bierut Films is hiring for a for a Digital Post Producer. This is an LA-based position, but it will quickly become remote work after the necessary in-person training. This is a project-based role where you will be working on one of our weekly Snapchat shows, ''Not My Party.'' Must be available every Tuesday -- start date is ASAP. Rate is negotiable, based on experience & expertise.
Job Overview
So how do we execute our weekly show? Well, it starts with our host recording himself talking to camera in front of a green screen. And then by the time the episode airs on Snapchat every Thursday morning, it's a hyper visual, fast-paced, and thumb-stopping ride that blends politics and pop-culture.
The ideal candidate will help the editor get the show from A to B.
Every Tuesday morning, the Digital Post Producer will receive a google doc script. This script reflects the host's straight-to-camera narration for the weekly episode.
The job is to fill the script with assets. Using the 'comments tool,' the producer will completely cover the script with notes that provide the editor with asset links along with specific instructions for implementation.
The scripts average ~620 words. The episodes average ~4 minutes in length.
Responsibilities
• filling out the entire script with assets and elements to make it visual, compelling, persuasive, and funny
• sourcing images, gifs, news headlines, and clips from the internet as well as from our stock media libraries
• creating custom 2D graphics using photoshop or illustrator e.g. text treatments and keying out backgrounds
• providing the editor with air-tight instruction. Visuals that cover the host's language down to the word. Sound bites that occur in the story down to the timecodes of the source link, etc.
• working quickly and delivering a post-production plan to the editor in an 8 hour turnaround
Qualifications
Our ideal candidate is:
• a politics junkie, especially literate in the world of US politics and familiar with the noisy sea of voices in the political media
• able to joke about politics just as easily as you can argue and debate about political topics
• someone who regularly listens to political podcasts, enjoys political Twitch streamers, enjoys political documentaries, and politics Twitter
• familiar with the cable news shows that cover politics
• a fan of comedians and even cartoons that love to get their hands dirty with political topics
• definitely not someone who likes Trump but also isn't a fan of the AOC crowd
• someone more in the middle of the political spectrum who is skeptical of the increasingly extreme poles
And in terms of technical skill, our ideal candidate:
• Has 3+ years of post or producer experience
• Fluent with Adobe Photoshop and/or Illustrator
• Has experience working with editors who use Adobe Premiere, or knows how to edit in Premiere is even better
• Has a knack for research and can navigate the internet swiftly with ease
