Full Time Job
Join our amazing Business and Legal Affairs team. You will provide legal services for BET Networks, MTV, VH1 and Logo with a focus on production for unscripted and reality programming, music programming, digital and tent-pole events. You will handle production and talent-related matters for both in-house and third party productions. You will own the administration of contests and sweepstakes including drafting all agreements and related paperwork needed for filings. You will help manage the system that tracks deal requests submitted by the client groups. We work closely with the networks’ Production Management, Programming, Talent, Publicity, Music & Media Licensing, Labor & Employment, Risk Management, Pre-Broadcast Content Review, Intellectual Property & Litigation, Marketing, Digital, Ad Sales and Accounting/Finance departments.
Responsibilities
• Negotiating and drafting production agreements (e.g., talent, venue and location releases)
• Handling a range of production-related legal matters
• Organizing documents for legal kick-off calls and coordinating distribution of production agreements to third party production companies
• Reviewing and approving legal contracts for execution by management
• Leading contract administration and compliance
• Assisting with credit review process for completed shows
• Drafting contract summaries and assisting with other special projects
• Providing on-site coverage for tent-pole events and creative programming when necessary
Basic Qualifications
• You have 2-3 years of meaningful experience preferably at a network, studio, entertainment law firm or production company
Additional Qualifications
• You have working knowledge of television industry agreements, contract law and intellectual property rights, confirmed ability to conduct legal research, analysis and reasoning
• You have Excellent drafting, negotiation, communication (written and verbal), social, organizational and computer skills
• You have the ability to effectively negotiate and get along with agents, managers and outside attorneys
