Beaches The Musical is seeking candidates for a Social Media & Marketing Fellow. Under the mentorship of the Director of Creative Operations at Super Awesome Friends, the person in this position will support the social media team with the day-to-day tasks in creative development, social strategy, and brand awareness. They will attend marketing meetings with the producers and general management, engage in creative discussions with the social media team, lead and manage in-house activations during performances, and analyze the performance of the show’s content. The fellow must be available for all performances, including evenings and weekends.
The ideal candidate will be curious, collaborative, friendly, and eager to learn the ins-and-outs of commercial Social Media & Marketing. Due to the nature of this position, the ideal candidate will be comfortable engaging directly with audience members. We rely on team members who work well both independently and in groups. This is a full-time, temporary position in a fast-paced and creative environment, with the possibility of extension and/or future employment.
Start Date: On or about Monday, March 23, 2025
Through: Sunday, September 27, 2026, with the possibility of extension and/or future employment
Training:
• Mentorship by Director of Creative Operations at Super Awesome Friends (SAF) through the duration of the program
• Attendance at rehearsals, performances, and ad meetings
• Opportunities to shadow leadership
• Guidance from mentor regarding current activities and larger industry questions
• Networking opportunities at opening nights and industry events
Responsibilities:
• Be a dedicated SAF Staff Member in-theater at each performance of the production
• Lead & manage the show’s on-site activation both pre-show and during intermission: Support audience engagement by encouraging audience members to take photos, provide technical support where needed, and oversee equipment
• Attend key on-site events such as opening nights, press events, etc. to assist with real time content
• Attend and participate in internal and external brainstorms with a focus on promising practices in social media
• Gather social sentiment across social platforms and audit channels for relevant social insights
• Assist the Accounts and Creative teams with various day-to-day tasks as assigned
Requirements:
• Must be a US citizen, US national, US permanent resident, an individual granted deferred action status under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals Program (DACA), or otherwise authorized to work in the United States at the time of application.
• Must be a member of an underrepresented community within the theatre industry
• Must reside in New York State for the duration of the fellowship
• Must demonstrate an interest in pursuing theatrical marketing as a career option
• Must be available for all performances, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Successful candidates will be/have:
• Self-motivated, proactive, and curious
• Strong and professional verbal and written communication
• Courteous and friendly customer service skills
• Excellent spelling, grammar, editing, and proofreading skills
• Proficiency with Excel, Word, and other Microsoft applications
• Proficiency with various social media platforms, editing programs, and graphic design
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and responsibility
• Ability to manage multiple competing priorities, work well under pressure, and complete multiple projects simultaneously
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
