Part Time Unpaid Internship
Are you obsessed with reality TV? Do you unwind by watching The Great British Bake Off or by binging the latest Love Island episode? Are true crime docs keeping you up at night? Try an internship in unscripted!
Back Roads Entertainment is an unscripted TV production company in Austin TX founded by Colby Gaines, who co-created one of cable's longest running hit shows, Pawn Stars. Since our inception we've produced over 30 series, specials and pilots for MTV, Food Network, Amazon, Hulu, BET, Discovery and more! We're currently working on a big dating social experiment with a major streamer and are in production on a car restoration show.
We develop and produce unscripted TV shows across genres of food, home, comedy, game, competition and more. Our current projects have us working with high-profile superstars and pitching to every streamer, cable channel, and broadcast network there is.
Back Roads interns will be involved in every aspect of the TV development process. Interns will learn research and development techniques for unscripted projects, keep up to date on buzz-worthy news and industry trends, and learn how to develop and pitch their own original unscripted TV ideas. This is a highly creative and collaborative internship!
Don't know anything about unscripted development? We don't expect you to! Back Roads interns will be engaged in a bi-weekly master class program to learn all of the steps and stages of TV development from loglines to one-pagers, decks and sizzles. Every week, our interns are also pitching their own original ideas directly to the company's Founder and development team in our brainstorm and ideation sessions. Over the course of the semester, our interns learn how to take these early ideas and enhance them, developing the ideas into ready-to-pitch TV shows.
The internship will start on Tuesday, September 6th in the Austin TX office.
RESPONSIBILITIES: We are looking for interns with a passion for television who are available a minimum of 16 hours a week. Applicants are REQUIRED to obtain school credit for this internship. Adobe Creative Suite and video editing is a plus, but by no means required.
